Privacy policy
Effective 20 October 2026
Fairmark helps you judge whether a stock looks cheap or expensive against its own history. This page explains what information the app and its server handle. In short: you only need an account to subscribe, and it is just your email address. There are no ads, no tracking and no sale of data.
What stays on your phone
Your watchlist, alert switches, scoring settings, theme, language, recent searches and Compare picks are saved on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them.
What the app sends to our server
- A random install code, your platform (iPhone, Android, Mac…) and the app version. The app creates the code the first time it runs and uses it to get a signed pass from the server, which proves the request comes from a genuine copy of Fairmark and keeps one device from overloading the service. We do not keep a list of installs. On a phone the code and pass are kept in the device’s secure storage (the Keychain or Keystore); on an iPhone that storage can survive deleting and reinstalling the app, so a reinstalled app may reuse the same code.
- Stock symbols you look at (for example “AAPL”), so the server can return prices, ratios, search results and charts. We do not link these requests to your name or any account.
- Your internet address (IP address) reaches the server like any website visit. Our hosting provider (Render) keeps ordinary technical logs for a short time, and we use them only to keep the service running and secure.
- If you turn on alerts: your device’s push-notification token (a random code from Apple/Google via Expo), your platform (iPhone or Android), the list of stocks with alerts on, your alert type (“any zone change” or “only Good or Bad”) and your scoring settings. The server uses these only to check your stocks and send you notifications. It deletes your entry when you turn all alerts off, or when Apple/Google/Expo report that the app was removed from your device.
Other companies involved
- Finnhub and Twelve Data supply market data. Our server asks them for data about stocks; they do not receive your identity or device token.
- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Wikidata supply public company filings and facts (earnings, head-office city, founding year). Our server asks them about companies; they do not receive your identity or device token.
- Expo, Apple and Google deliver push notifications. Expo also runs the service the app can ask for app updates; when it does, Expo sees your IP address, the app version and your platform.
- Render hosts our server.
- Company logos are loaded straight from Parqet, Financial Modeling Prep and Finnhub, so those services can see your IP address and which logo was requested.
Fairmark does not use advertising or analytics services and does not collect your name, location, contacts, photos or financial accounts. Your email address is used only if you choose to sign in (see “Your account” below).
Your account (if you sign in)
- To subscribe you sign in with your email address. We email you a 6-digit code; there is no password. The free features of the app work without signing in.
- Your email is sent to our email provider, Resend, only to deliver the code. Our server does not store your email address or keep a list of accounts. It turns the address into a one-way account code, which is what your subscription is tied to. Your phone keeps a sign-in token in its secure storage until you sign out.
- We use your email only for the sign-in code and, if you write to us, to answer you. We do not send marketing email.
If you subscribe to Premium or Pro
- Payment is handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card or payment details.
- Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives the app’s random install code (or, if you are signed in, your one-way account code) and your subscription status so that our server can tell whether Premium is active. It does not receive your name or email from us.
- We keep no purchase history beyond what Apple, Google and RevenueCat provide.
- Fairmark Pro works the same way, with its own subscription.
Premium research and the assistant
- When a Premium member opens the Research section or asks the assistant a question, the app sends the stock symbol and, for the assistant, the text of your question and the earlier messages in that chat to our server. Please don’t type personal information into the chat.
- To answer, our server sends your question, together with public facts about the stock (prices, ratios, news headlines and analyst ratings), to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model. Anthropic does not receive your name, email or device token from us. Our server does not save chats, and the app keeps them only while the screen is open. Anthropic may keep API requests for a limited time under its own privacy policy.
- If you have Fairmark Pro and use the Scout, the app sends the text of your questions and the earlier messages in that chat to our server. Our server passes them to Anthropic, which searches the public web on our behalf to find stocks and reads the pages it finds. Please don’t type personal information into the Scout. Our server does not save these chats, and the app keeps them only while the screen is open. Our server only records, for cost control, how many questions you asked and how many web searches they used. The Scout shows stocks that match what you asked for; it is not investment advice.
- Answers are written by an AI, can contain mistakes, and are never investment advice.
Not investment advice
Fairmark shows information only. It does not give investment advice and never places trades. Data comes from third parties and can be delayed, incomplete or wrong.
Children
Fairmark is meant for adults (18 and over). It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect their information.
How long we keep things
- Alerts: until you turn all alerts off or the device is reported as removed.
- Chats with the assistant and the Scout: not saved by our server.
- Your account: the one-way account code and its subscription record stay at RevenueCat until you delete your account. We do not hold your email address.
- Sign-in emails: kept by our email provider under its own policy.
- Counters: to limit how much each install can use, the server counts requests per install for the current day. This lives in the server’s memory and is cleared daily and whenever the server restarts.
- Server logs (including IP addresses) are kept by our hosting provider for a limited time under its own policy.
Where data is processed
Our hosting provider, our email provider (Resend), Anthropic, Expo, RevenueCat and our data providers run services in the United States and other countries, so information can be processed outside the country you live in.
Your choices and rights
You can turn notifications off in the app or in your phone’s settings, and delete the app at any time. If you signed in, you can delete your account yourself in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account): this erases your account record at our subscription provider and your alerts on our server. Cancel any subscription in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions as well, because deleting the account does not cancel it; Apple and Google keep their own purchase records. Turning all alerts off deletes the alert entry for your device from our server straight away.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. We do not store emails, so write to us from the email address you signed in with (or, if you never signed in, tell us your phone model and roughly when you used the app) and we will do what we can. We reply within 30 days. Write to support@fairmarkapp.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
